MINISTER HENRY TOURS PORTMORE MUNICIPALITY

As part of his familiarization tour of areas under his portfolio, Minister Mike Henry visited the Portmore Municipality recently. There he looked at roads, gullies, drains as well as other infrastructural concerns in the community. He was accompanied by a team from the National Works Agency (NWA), the Ministry of Transport and Works and the Portmore Municipality.
The tour was particularly important in light of the torrential rains which have been lashing the island over the last three weeks or so. Many roads in the country, including those in Portmore have suffered as a result of battering from the rains. It is estimated that between $3B and $3.5B will be needed for road repairs.

Mike Henry (third left), along with (l-r) an unidentified representative of the Portmore Municipality; Portmore Mayor, George Lee; Jamaica Labour Party mayoral candidate for Portmore, Keith Hinds; and Daphne Taylor, Personal Assistant to the minister, examine a section of a gully which separates the Waterford community from the Dyke Road in St. Catherine. The group was on a tour of damaged infrastructure in the Portmore area on Friday, November 9.
