Chinese Ambassador, His Excellency ZhengQuingdian paid a courtesy call on Transport, Works and Housing Minister, Dr. Omar Davies at his Maxfield Avenue Office recently.

During the discussions both men used the opportunity to focus on relations between the two countries. In recent times, the Chinese have engaged in quite a number of investments in Jamaica, many of these involving infrastructural projects. Sporting activities also formed part of the discussions with Ambassador Quingdian recalling with fond memories, the exploits of Usain Bolt at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

For his part, Minister Davies said that he was pleased at having the Ambassador call on him, noting that China has emerged as a world economic power and bi-lateral co-operation between the two nations will be actively encouraged and pursued by the government.
