The
Ministry of Transport and Works hosted an ‘Open Day’
concerning the Access to Information Act on Wednesday, October 27,
2004.
The
event was held against a background where the Ministry came under
the ambit of the Act on August 31, 2004. To this end, the opportunity
was being used to assist in the education process and how to access
information from the Ministry and its Agencies.
The
major highlight of the day was an exhibition which was held in the
Lobby of the Ministry. There was also a computer on hand where persons
could browse the net concerning information on the Act as well as
viewing the Ministry’s Website.
On hand
to explain features of the Act, were Ms. Myrtle Williams, Director,
Documentation, Information and Access Services and Ms. Sonia Fennell,
Librarian. Minister Pickersgill and Permanent Secretary, Dr. Alwin
Hales also viewed the exhibition and gave interviews to the media.
Personnel from the Access to Information Unit were also (ATI) in
attendance at the event.
