PICKERSGILL TOURS HALF WAY TREE AREA

Minister Pickersgill touring Half Way Tree
As
a prelude to the traffic changes which are scheduled to come into
effect in the Half Way Tree area on Sunday, December 4, Minister
Robert Pickersgill toured the Half Way Tree area on Friday, December
2.
The
tour started on the compound of the Half Way Tree Transport Centre
(which is under construction) and went along Eastwood Park Road,
Derrymore Road, Constant Spring Road and back to the Half Way Tree
Centre. While on the tour, the Minister inspected work which is
going on in preparation for the traffic changes. Accompanying the
Minister on the tour were officials from the National Works Agency,
the Ministry of Transport and Works, Transport Authority, the media
and other stakeholders.
Work
completed so far includes:
• Resurfacing of Derrymore Road
• Civil work for traffic signals
• Kerb along North Odeon Avenue
• Reconstruction Sidewalk along North Odeon Avenue and Derrymore
Road
• Removal of medians along Constant Spring Road
• Improvement of turning radius at Eastwood Park Road and
North Odeon Avenue.
The
new traffic changes are expected to result in reduction in congestion
in Half Way Tree; improved pedestrian safety; reduction in travel
time for each corridor; reduction
