JUTC ON CUSTOMER APPRECIATION DRIVE

August has been designated 'Customer Appreciation Month' at the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC).

During this customer appreciation drive, the JUTC has been giving customers the opportunity to re-use tickets as many times as they want to within two approved periods. The first period began at 5:00am and lasts until 2:00pm. For this month, when a commuter purchases a ticket, he/she can use that ticket to travel on any JUTC bus up to 2:00pm on that same day. In addition to the time restriction, commuters who wish to cross from one zone to another must remember to purchase the right ticket to do so, in this case, a two zone ticket. Such a ticket may then be used to cross zones as well as travel within one zone.

The second period lasts from 2:00pm until midnight and the same rules apply. On Sundays, however, there will be some deviation from what obtains otherwise. In this scenario, the time restrictions are removed and commuters can travel all day, using one ticket.

JUTC inspectors will be out to make sure that the system works as planned. They advise that for the system to work well, passengers for instance roundtown should make certain that they buy a one zone ticket which costs $30.00 while if they are going to a two zone destination, they should buy a $40.00 ticket.

The promotion ends on midnight, August 31, 2004.
