The initiative which is a collaborative effort among the Transport Authority, the Clarendon Parish Council and the Ministry of Transport, Works & Housing will see students from Glenmuir, Denbigh, Foga Road, Vere Technical, Bustamante High, Kemps Hill and Garvey Maceo benefitting under the programme.

Speaking at the Official Launch, Transport, Works & Housing Minister, Dr. Omar Davies said the initiative was a significant occurrence and thanked all the stakeholders who made it a reality. He said the effort will see students being transported in a safe and secure manner which is a win/win situation for all concerned. In hailing the project a good one, Minister Davies said there was a role for the private sector to be a part and invited their participation in its possible expansion.

Also speaking at the ceremony was Mayor of May Pen Scean Barnswell who chronicled the history of the Project noting that it was a worthwhile one and thanked the various stakeholders for its implementation.

Minister of Local Government, Hon Noel Arscott lauded the efforts of all involved in ‘bringing discipline and order to the transportation of the students’ while Minister without portfolio in the Transport Ministry, Hon. Dr. Morais Guy recognised the importance of the initiative and hoped ‘ for its continued success’.

Councillor Joel Williams who represented MP for Central Clarendon, Mike Henry said that the initiative will allow parents to feel secure while their children are being transported and hope for its rollout elsewhere in Clarendon.
