Mount Diablo Main Road Improvement Project

This Sub-project involved the rehabilitation of approximately 9km section of Main Arterial Road from Moneague to Mt. Diablo at the border of St. Catherine and St. Ann.

 The Works involved: 

• Strengthening the pavement structure where required.
• Improvement of the vertical profiles and horizontal alignment where required, inclusive of widening to achieve a minimum road width of 7.2 meters (24 feet).
• The milling out and replacement of deteriorated surface.
• Cleaning and improving of existing drains, where necessary.  Overlay of the surface with Asphaltic Concrete
• Construction and repairs of retaining and parapet walls.

Work on this Sub-project commenced in January 2000 with work on retaining walls.  However all works were suspended pending the Ministry’s review of the scope of works.  The contractor was subsequently instructed to proceed with the section from the Alcan entrance at Faith’s Pen to Mt. Diablo as per revised survey sheets.  Works began on 15th April 2000.

The Mount Diablo Main Road Improvement Project was completed in March 2001.
