Three Miles Roundabout Removal Project

Tankweld Construction Company Ltd carried out the works on this project.  The contract sum was J$ 43 million (43,177.375) and the completion time was set for 180 days (defects liability period: 1 year)

 Works on the project included;

  • The removal of the Three Miles Roundabout, and its replacement with a four-way traffic-light-controlled intersection.
  • The approach legs from Marcus Garvey Drive and Hagley Park Road was reconstructed to carry three lanes each.
  • The approach leg from Six Miles along Spanish Town Road was reconstructed to carry four lanes, with two turning lanes onto Marcus Garvey Drive.
  • The approach leg from Darling Street along Spanish Town Road was reconstructed to carry three lanes.
  • The carriageways were separated by median strips, and sidewalks were constructed for pedestrian traffic.
  • Landscaping works were also done in addition to the placement of road signs and markings.

 Works on the Three Miles Roundabout began in August 2001 and the new intersection was officially opened by Prime Minister P.J. Patterson on June 12, 2002.
